Roswell Celebrates Juneteenth Freedom Day

This year’s featured speaker will be Dr. Maurice J. Hobson, Associate Professor of Africana Studies and Historian at Georgia State University. He is the author of the award-winning book titled “The Legend of the Black Mecca: Politics and Class in the Making of Modern Atlanta.” He is the lead historian for the forthcoming “With Faith in God and Heart and Mind: A History of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.”

He has explored the experiences of Blacks in the American South and has served as an expert witness in court cases, and consulted on numerous documentaries, including a Netflix documentary featuring an Atlanta production team who worked with Atlanta Hip-Hop legends OutKast and Goodie Mob.
