The Slave Dwelling Project: Lecture and Author Discussion

The Slave Dwelling Project: Lecture and Author Discussion

Presented by Roswell's Historic House Museums and City of Roswell, Georgia and Friends of Bulloch, Inc. and Friends of Mimosa Hall & Gardens at Mimosa Hall & Gardens

Join us for a book discussion and lecture of a personal account of one man’s groundbreaking project to sleep overnight in the countless, oft-overlooked, former slave dwellings that still stand across the country, the fascinating history behind those sites, and how he has used the experiences to shed light on larger issues of race in America. Please follow link for a publisher highlight of book.

Joseph McGill Jr. is the History and Culture Coordinator for Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina, and the founder of the Slave Dwelling Project. Herb Frazier is a journalist and the special project editor at the Charleston City Paper and author on several books and articles on black culture, the legacy of slavery, and racial healing.

Lecture sponsored by Friends of Mimosa Hall & Gardens. Book is available for sale at the Bulloch Hall Gift Shop, 180 Bulloch Avenue. Please contact store for further information at (770) 330-9852. All proceeds go to Friends of Bulloch and the preservation of Bulloch Hall.
