Inalienable Rights: Living History Through the Eyes of the Enslaved Program

The Slave Dwelling Project is dedicated to fostering a future where Americans embrace a more truthful and inclusive historical narrative, aimed at recognizing the significant contributions of people of African heritage. This vision involves a narrative in preserving buildings and artifacts to inspire all Americans to acknowledge their ancestors.

A specialized free program led by experienced living historians, “Inalienable Rights: Living History Through the Eyes of the Enslaves,” will explore the lives of the enslaved community ‘beyond the fields’ through discussion, storytelling, artisan demonstrations, and presentation. Interpreters will be on site to discuss and explore the enslaved experience within Roswell, highlighting exhibits, artifacts, and the recreated slave quarters at Bulloch Hall. This program is for anyone wishing to understand a more holistic and diverse context of American history, the importance of preservation to the enslaved story, and legacy of slavery.
